Well gang, there’s interesting news this week. We have just gone through Thanks Giving, and there is no holiday quite like it.
But as luck would have it, things don’t always work out right, especially when it comes to those wonderful pies that the season is known for.
There is a pie shop in Houston that is so well known for it’s delicious pies that, people line up in front of the store before it opens in order to get first choice of the wonderful delicasies that these folks create for their clientele.
It was unfortunate that on the day before Thanksgiving, with a parking lot filled with people, that a crowd of folks that had gotten their pies, about a half dozen or so, came walking out of the bakery with their pies only to meet up with some fellow members of our club that they had beaten in the annual MB&GC Cook-off, which was only this past October 22nd.
Well, nasty words were exchanged, and tempers flared as they are wont to do , and one man threatened that he had a right to carry a loaded gun , and another man promptly informed him that he wasn’t alone, and before anyone knew what was going on, there was a pitched gun battle going on in the parking lot of the bakery.
Well, when the shooting started, the customers inside the store, hesitated to leave. After all, to most people, a pie is just a pie. But when the shooters ran out of ammunition, the gun fight degenerated into a particularly vicious pie fight.
What with the guns no longer in play, the customers that had been trapped inside the store, joined in what could only have been described as a melee. The parking lot became a scene out of a silent film by Laurel and Hardy.
When the police arrived, expecting a gun battle, they were greeted by a pie fight of heroic proportions. Soon everybody was covered by some of the best pie filling in Houston Texas. The police included.
After it was finally all over, and the police were given free pies not to mention the pie shop, and that their uniforms would be cleaned free of charge, and the TV crews were convinced that it wasn’t newsworthy, even though there was one young couple that had never met before, but were really getting into licking pie filling off each other, there was more than one participant that said that they ought to do it again next year.
Hope that your Thanksgiving was a good one too.

Till next week
