Well gang, we now know who "Deep throat" is. It is very interesting to find that some see him as a hero, and others as a traitor.
Some of those who think that he is a traitor have served time for their Watergate associated behavior, so you can’t really blame them.
But there are also those who look down on him for not blindly following the orders of a bunch of guys that might very well have stepped out of a Damon Runyon short story, if their characters hadn’t been quite so dark.
These people have a tendency to confuse serving the party or the administration, with serving the nation itself. Nixon and his boys were caught trying to steal the United States of America.
It would be nice to think that if another band of officials tried to hi-jack this nation, that someone would rise to the occasion and save our country for us again.
Perhaps with the help of people who still remember what journalism is all about. A couple of people who work for a newspaper that still remembers what journalism is all about.
But then again…that could never happen again…not here…right?
