Well gang, here we are, it’s Memorial Day again. It’s that day we that put aside to remember and honor those that have paid the ultimate price while serving.
It probably makes a lot of sense somehow, that these days when the remains of one of those who pay the ultimate price while serving comes back home in a flag draped coffin, they are dropped off at the servant’s entrance. You know, "DELIVERIES IN THE REAR…. NO PHOTOS"
Like as if we can’t let them be seen on Main street USA. Like as if it’s an embarrassment of some kind.
And maybe it is.
And no matter what the smart guys say about our new high tech army, you still need boots on the ground. And those troops should have high tech stuff like flak-jackets that function, and hum-v’s should have top of the line high-tech armor too.
Some who come back have some parts missing, and some are emotionally different from when they left, but we don’t want any of them to think that they have to come home by way of the back door.
This holiday, while barbequeing and watching baseball and remembering the fallen, think a little bit about welcoming our people back home too.
They’re going to need it.
It’ll be good for you too.

Till next week
