Well gang, it's time for a report on the Texas Food Chain Massacre cookbook.
The cookbook committee is really breaking their chops trying to get it all together.
There are over a hundred fifty recipes so far. More, including hangover cures. Of course the recipes will have to be culled in order to weed out recipes that are mistakes or just jokes.
Like the recipe that turned out to be a recipe for concrete driveway cleaner or the one that was for homemade fire ant killer.
Both of which, turned out to be pretty good by the way.
As one might expect, there have been several recipes that have been claimed by more than one person. "Hoss", our man from Corpus and ramrod of the project, has vowed to straighten that out, and appeared to looking forward to some difficulty in the process.
Sioux City Sioux, who is in charge of over all design, says that more photos for the cookbook should not be sent to her because she figures that the three or four thousand the she already has will more than likely be enough.
You will be pleased to note that, in as much as a lot of these recipes have been entered in cook-off competitions, a few of them will be ideal for those occasions when you happen to invite a hundred or so of your closest friends over to the house for a snack.
But while this may be the case, there is no truth to the rumor that there is a recipe for alligator gumbo calling for two whole, seven foot alligators.
Some of the recipes must be pretty good, because all the people on the cookbook committee have gained weight over the last few weeks, and one member wound up in an emergency room being treated for what the intern referred to in technical terms, as gluttony.
And while on the subject of recipes, KPFT 90.1 FM, and the Larry Winters "Spare Change " show, is a good recipe for great radio.
You should probably call the station at 713-526-5738 and pledge some money for listener sponsored radio, if you haven’t already.
It’ll make you feel real good.
Till next week
