There’s good news this week gang. You will recall that a couple of weeks ago, while our clubhouse and range committees were out at our facilities, a minor mishap occurred that resulted in Cindy Prendergast’s Patton tank destroying a Texas State Trooper highway cruiser.
At first it looked like we were in for trouble, but Wolfgang Schellcasing, our club’s lawyer, got in touch with Phillip T. Lucre, our club’s angel, who got in touch with the Texas Rangers and offered to buy the rangers two cruisers to replace the one that was lost.
The rangers held out for better computers and better engines and finally agreed to look the other way if all the rangers present at the incident were made honorary members of our club.
Wolfgang and Phil have done it again. Plus we have some friends in the Texas Rangers.
You never know.
The amount of work that needs to be done, however, is daunting.
The TV sets in all five outhouses will have to be replaced. There is strong support for upgrading to HD of course, and the outhouses themselves will have to be taken back from the hornets and a rattler or two.
The clubhouse itself will need a good going over by a professional pest control outfit, as there seems to be quite a bit of critter spoor laying around. Including mountain lion. Pretty fresh too.
The airstrip will have to be inspected by engineers to be sure that it will handle a B-29 fully loaded with beer, but according to reports from the scene the cracks aren’t as bad as expected.
All the roads are overgrown, the four walk in coolers need a complete overhaul and everything man made that was painted, needs repainting.
Mostly everything made of wood needs rebuilding.
Which brings us to the clubhouse itself. It’s going to take a lot of work and a lot of money, and once again the ladies are lobbying strongly for indoor toilets.
If it wasn’t for Phil T. Lucre and his generosity, we couldn’t possibly put it all together again.
Last week some time, Phil was asked why he poured so much money into our facilities. Phil replied, "I don’t know, I guess I just get a kick out of watching you people operate. You folks just seem to take the boredom out of it all."
That’s a good thing. Right?
Till next week
